Welcome to the official website of the Mid Shropshire Crown Green Bowling League for the 2015 season - our 83nd since being established in 1932.

This much-praised site was launched in 2011 to provide all the latest information on league news, dates, competitions and, most importantly, results and tables – all in one place.
Mike Beckett's revolutionary results system, which sees clubs input result details direct into their computers, ensures that is the case, and that superb system will have a change to cope with this year as clubs in the Saturday divisions adopt the unique points scoring system of the highly successful Dennis Lewis Thursday Night Division, which was launched in 2014 and is also eight-a-side. Newcomers to it this year are Shrewsbury-based Prince of Wales Hotel, who are warmly welcomed back.
With their return, our Telford-based league now has 28 member clubs with 1,500 bowlers and provides competition in three main divisions on Friday nights and three more on Monday evenings.
The Jack Jones Junior Division Trophy was re-launched in 2013 and league officers are currently working on a Junior Development Policy to try and attract more youngsters to take up the game.

Mid Shropshire's nomination Mike Potter (pictured) is now serving as County President for 2015, and he has picked Allscott to stage the County Merit finals on Sunday, June 28.

  • King's King In Mid Shropshire Double on County Stage A young King is the new prince of Shropshire bowls. Aaron King shone on a dull and wet day to be crowned Shropshire Junior Merit champion at Malpas BC. The 17-year-old defeated county junior team-mate, Jack Butler of Hanmer 21-16 in the final on Sunday, July 26, to get his name on the Dick Meyrick Trophy. And in doing so he gave his club Bowring an historic treble of Junior Merit, Senior Merit (Rob Roden) and County Handicap (Rich Lawson) winners in the same year. He also achieved something his older brother Jamie never did, winning a title that marks him out as the best under-18 bowler in Shropshire this year. Both Aaron and Jamie ...

  • Maddocks Make Rivals Aware August is going to be a tricky month for Maddocks.Bob Llewelyn, secretary of Maddocks BC, has told league officials and its clubs: "Most will be  aware that Maddocks is currently undergoing major refurbishment and disruption."The club will be closed in August for at least the first 2 weeks. I had initially been informed that arrangements would be made for toilets for bowlers, but now understand there will be no water or sewerage so that may not be possible. "We will try to bring August fixtures forward to avoid disruption to the league. We ask for the understanding and forbearance of the league and clubs during this troublesome period."

  • Annual Dinner Date Changed The date of league's annual presentation dinner for the 2015 season has been put back a week.Club delegates at the July Executive meeting agreed to a change to Saturday, 16 January 2016, and the Telford Whitehouse Hotel has now been booked for that night. The change was made to avoid a clash with Sally Clee's 21st birthday party on January 9, which could have cut the attendance at the league function by more than 30 as Wrockwardine Wood are normally the biggest supporters of the evening.
