Our big chance in 2013 . . .

The Shropshire senior crown is the one inter-league title - in its one-day format - to have so far eluded the Mid Shropshire League.

But we get the best possible chance to put the record straight next year with our league selected to host the championship on Saturday, June 8, 2013.

That was the decision made at the Ciounty Executive meeting on Monday, November 19, when it was confirmed that county competitions secretary John Coxill will be nominated by the Ludlow League to serve as County Deputy President in 2013. And when he becomes President in 2014, Coxill will be the first Shropshire person to serve in the role for three terms.

The full list of Presidents and all county competition winners is one of the fascinating things in what is surely a must-have CHRISTMAS PRESENT for anyone connected with Shropshire bowls - the book celebrating the centenary of the County Association. It's called 'The Long And The Short Of It' and is a 128-page full colour production that's packed with pictures. The cost is just £11, order a copy for yourself or friend or relation by ringing Malcolm Fletcher on 01952-771134 or Jeff Hutchinson (01952-510606).
