Four out of five - that's the proud boast of Wrockwardine Wood in the Ashton Cup.

They won the trophy for the fourth time in five years by beating fourth division rivals Allscott by 50 shots on the old green at Bowring on the evening of Saturday, September 6.

Twenty fours later the 13 under-18 bowlers who took part in the second Junior Division Day were battling it out for the Jack Jones Trophy at Maddocks.

And there was more Wrockwardine Wood success as Phil Jones teamed up with Susie Lawson (Bowring) and Sophie Stone (Trench) to win the main trophy after three round robin games for the three-a-side teams.

The consolation final was won a squad comprising Josh Cotton - also of the Wrockites - and the Shifnal trio of twins Joe and Tom Killen and Charlie Steventon.

Maddocks was picked as venue to give all the league's county squad players the chance of more practice for the British under-18 county championship final against Warwick & Worcester on Sunday, September 14 (2pm start).

All the players who took part in Junior Division Day received a small present and there will be prizemoney to collect at the annual dinner in January.

Organiser Rob Burroughs, who did another super job, said: "I enjoyed the day. It's a shame there wasn't more juniors, but it was good to see some new faces play."
