Competition secretary Phil King is finalising the 2018 programme but he did announce dates for a couple of comps at the League's March executive meeting.

The flagship event, the Mid Shropshire Senior Merit, will have qualifying sessions on Wednesday 16th May starting at 6.30pm. Entry costs £6.

This comp, now regularly attracting in the region of 60 bowlers and with a potential new sponsor in the pipeline, will come to a climax on finals day for the last 16 on Saturday 30th June.
The Dixon Driscoll Doubles Doubles will be on Saturday 23rd June, entry costing £6 per pair, and numbers will determine if morning qualifying sessions are needed for this one-dayer.

Phil is also planning to hold the two Ashton KO finals on the same day (probably Saturday 1st September) at a two green venue, and likewise with the two Junior Merits, but with staggered starting times so youngsters can enter both the Under-15 and Under-18 comps if they want to - and are eligible.

The Harris  Cup final is poised for the evening of Saturday 22nd September.

And League officers are eager to attract lady bowlers to enter the Over-60 Merit, which will be three years old this summer but has yet to have a women battling for the Ray & Jeff Hutchinson Trophy.
