Now King's A Winter Wow

Another Mid Shropshire bowler has triumphed in the popular North Shropshire Parks winter series.

Jamie King followed in the footsteps of Martin Gaut seven days earlier by winning round 18 that attracted 53 entries to Old Shrewsbury on Sunday 10th February.

The 24-year-old Jamie celebrated booking a honeymoon in New York with partner Sally Clee later this year by beating Kerry Dance of Hadnall 13-9 in the final.

All set to play for Wrockwardine Wood this year after leaving Bowring, he claimed the scalps of county No.1 Callum Wraight 13-1 in the last eight and his former Bowring captain Rich Lawson 13-8 in the semi-finals.

Series organiser Jamie Brookes said: "Jamie bowled very well in the knockout stages after scraping through a tough round robin group (when he lost all three of his games)."

Jamie King, no stranger to winter successes in Shrewsbury, was making only his second series appearance of this winter - which continues this coming Sunday with round 19 at Prees (entries taken on the day at 9.30am, cost £7 adults and £4 juniors).
