The closing date for entries in this year's Senior Merit has been extended by two days - to the close of play on Sunday 8 May.

That's the new deadline for names to be with competition secretary Phil King ahead of qualifying sessions on Wednesday 25 May, 6.30pm start, followed by the finals for the last 16 on Saturday 2 July (2pm).

League officials, close to securing a new sponsorship deal for the flagship event, are hoping to break through the 60 entries barrier this year.

And a new rule passed at the 2016 AGM means Premier League bowlers on registered 12s are now eligible to play in the competition - as long as they have played a minimum total of 10 Thursday and / or Saturday fixtures in the previous and / or current season.
