The League has started making plans for possible disruption to the coming season caused by the coronavirus outbreak.

Delegates of clubs discussed the issue, and its potential implications, at its March executive meeting on Tuesday 3rd March at Wellington’s Bayley Club.

“It was a calm and rational discussion about the current situation and how it might change and affect the 2020 season,” said league secretary Malcolm Fletcher.

“We will be publishing all advice about measures bowlers can take to try and avoid infection and keeping in close contact with our clubs - and posting updates on our website

"It’s not a case of panic, it's a common sense approach as we need to be on the ball.

"And by the time we get to the start of the season in the first week of April we should be in a position to offer proper bowls-based guidelines."
