Extra Care Needed In Worrying Times

Local Coronavirus cases in Telford & Wrekin for the week ending 8th November:

This week, we have had our highest increase in cases (to 600) compared to the previous week since mass testing began.

Worryingly, the infection rate among over 60s has increased by 91% on the previous week to 272 per 100,000 - a group at great risk from Coronavirus.

The more the virus spreads in the over 60s the more hospital admissions we can expect, and sadly more deaths.

Our infection rates per 100,000 are 334 and above regional and national averages. The Shropshire figure is 229.

What we need to do to prevent the spread:

The virus spreads through families and social contact. Limit contact with others. Stay home, only leave home for food, medical reasons, exercise, education, and work from home if you can.

We also need to isolate and get tested. Do this when you have any symptoms of Covid, however mild – seven local testing sites are available, you can get a test within minutes. You can book a test 24/7 online at http://nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119.
