Shifnal’s Joe Killen has joined an elite band of young League bowlers.
He beat his twin brother and clubmate Tom in the final of Under-15 Merit to complete a junior double after winning the Under-18 Merit earlier in the season.
Only Harry Church of Sinclair has achieved that feat in recent years – in 2015 – and Joe did it with a fine burst on Donnignton Wood No.1 on Sunday 9th September.
The 13-year-old trailed Tom, winner of the Under-15 title last year at Trench, 10-8 before roaring 20-10 up en route to winning 21-13 in a showdown held over from earlier in the campaign.

The triumph put the icing on a super season for Joe, who won the Peter Ashton consolation KO at the Shropshire Junior Merit finals at Whixall in July.

League chairman Sean Round presented theUnder-15 trophies before a super six pairs contested the Junior Doubles on the same green later the same afternoon. Details to follow . . .
