Old Trophy To Get New Use

Former Mid Shropshire stalwart Billy Chapman was long remembered when clubs played in a four-a-side competition that ended with the winners receiving a trophy named in his memory.

That knockout having fallen by the wayside, League officials are now eager to bring the Billy Chapman Trophy back into use.

They are proposing that it be presented to the 'Club Person Of The Year' - with the 27 member clubs encouraged to nominate people from their ranks who they feel deserve the recognition.

As to how the winner will be determined - either by delegates at the October executive meeting or by members of the League's Future Ideas Sub Group - remains to be decided.

But the plan is for the Billy Chapman Trophy to be presented for the first time in its new guise at the 2019 annual presentation dinner - which has now been booked for Saturday 12th January back at the Telford Whitehouse HoteI in Wellington.
