Stalwarts To Be Rewarded

posted Dec 8, 2017, 4:51 AM by Malcolm Fletcher
Three past and present servants of the League will be honoured for their efforts in the new year.

Life membership status will be confirmed for Frank Booth, John Hughes and Steve Wall at the League’s AGM on Tuesday 30th January after club delegates backed their nominations at the December management committee meeting.

Frank, who has just celebrated his 90th birthday, is a former results secretary of the league who still attends meetings on behalf of his beloved Madeley Cricket Club BC. He also remains results secretary of the Mid Shropshire Senior Citizens League and a vice president of the Highley League.

John Hughes is a past Mid Shropshire treasurer who secured the League’s first sponsorship deal and still assists league officers, having also served the league and county as a junior selector as well as being county treasurer for a spell.

Steve Wall, a former League chairman, is currently its webmaster and IT advisor. He's also an Albrighton stalwart who was as proud as punch when the club reached the heady heights of the first division in recent years.

All serving officers confirmed at this week's meeting that they would be standing for re-election at the AGM and there will be the normal league handbook with fixtures in 2018.

And the final total for the number attending the League's annual dinner on Saturday 13th January is a super 210 - yep, two hundred and ten!!!
