Juniors Need YOUR Backing

2019 Shropshire junior inter-league Sunday 8th September

At Bowring BC, 10am start

Due to the uncertainties regarding the exact number of teams taking part, it has been decided – after contacting County President Mike Beckett  – it is pointless doing the draw for the round robin groups until the day of the championship.

Therefore it is vital that all team manages arrive by 9.30am prompt so that Mike, along with fellow green manager Sean Round, and key assistants Rob Burroughs and Phil Scott can sort things out and get play started promptly as possible.

As of midweek, we were still on course for two groups of four - the eight teams being MSBL (x 3), Whitchurch (x 3) and Tanners Shropshire (x2). The group winners would then contest the final using both greens.

But, if there any more late cry-offs, following Ludlow confirming they were a no-show, members of the lower ranked teams may have to take it in turns play twice in each game – which would be extra experience gained for them!

But it would help if all team managers could bring their own team sheets for the six-a-side event (matches are 21-up but with 3 on the card, any home bowlers starting on 1 and dress code rules apply) to present to the green managers before each game for inputting into the MB results system.

There will be food and drink available from the Bowring club during the day and MSBL treasurer Celia Miles will be doing a post final buffet for the two teams and officials.

I am hoping that Phil Scott will accept an invitation to referee the final . . .

The host League will be doing a raffle on the day (and it would be good if the two other leagues could supply a raffle prize please!) and all the proceeds will be donated to Mike Beckett’s chosen charity for his President’s Appeal.
Tanners Shropshire are the holders of the trophy and any support for Mid Shropshire's juniors on the day would be greatly appreciated.
