Code Of Conduct Is Coming . . .

Whether or not the Hadley USC proposal to clamp down on unsociable behaviour and bad language is approved at the league's AGM, it’s all systems go for plans to improve standards at Shropshire and national level.

Mid Shropshire club's will debate the Hadley idea at the annual meeting on Tuesday 12 January at Wellington's Bayley Club (7pm), which will be the last for Jeff Hutchinson in the role as league president.

But even if it is rejected, the introduction of a Code of Conduct will be on the agenda for the county association’s AGM on Monday 1 February 1 at Bagley BC in Shrewsbury (7.30pm).

Exactly which code gets discussed at that annual meeting, however, remains to be seen.

A county sub-committee led by President Mike Potter has produced one aimed at improving standards of behaviour, both on and around greens, which was debated at the latest county executive meeting.

But it may well be superseded by a code proposed Staffordshire which is going before the British Crown Green association’s rules revision meeting on January 16

And if that is approved then it would apply to Shropshire and all counties affiliated to the national governing body.
