Donnington Wood Get The Nod

posted Mar 21, 2017, 6:16 AM by Malcolm Fletcher
Reigning League champions Donnington Wood will act as Shropshire hosts for the Midland Alliance championship on Sunday 30 April.

They got the nod at Monday's County Executive meeting by beating the other hopefuls, Meole Brace, in a straight vote.

The main reason for that was that the county's senior team selectors wanted to use Donnington for the one-day event for county sides to try out bowlers who did not appear at senior level last year.

The selectors had already picked two squads of 10 for the eight-a-side championship which included a Meole bowler - and homesters are not allowed.

Meanwhile, Sir John Bayley lost by five shots to Newdigate (North Midlands) in their second tie at the World Club Championship at Fox Lane in Leyland to miss out on a place in the last eight for finals day on April 16..
