The long reign of John Kitchen as the League's highly respected Minutes Secretary has come to an end.

Albrighton-based John brought the curtain down on 16 years of loyal service when he took the minutes at Tuesday's December management committee meeting for the last time.

He told delegates he had started in the role using a word processor with screen and had experienced huge changes in IT software during his time. He received a warm round of applause in recognition on the night.

But John has agreed to attend the League's annual meeting on January 31 to receive a special presentation from Mid Shropshire officials and clubs in recognition of his efforts.

John, a keen golfer, has been captain of the seniors section of his club this year and played a hugely important role when Albrighton Bowling Club signed the lease to their site adjoining the RAF Cosford complex.
