League needs YOU - To Be A Referee

posted Jan 23, 2017, 11:41 AM by Malcolm Fletcher
Mid Shropshire officials are anxious to help address the growing shortage of referees in Shropshire..

So they are encouraging bowlers to consider attending a seminar on the rules of the game for potential referees at Tilstock Bowling Club, near Whitchurch, on Tuesday 24 January from 7.30pm.

It has been organised by Isobel Jones, Rob Ellison and the League's referees delegate Mike Potter - three members of the Shropshire Referees Society who are increasingly concerned by the falling number of qualified officials available for duty.

“The seminar is open to all, whatever age or gender, and it’s not only for those in the Whitchurch and Market Drayton area,” stressed Jones, who is on course to be County President for third time in 2018.

“The referees exam will take place approximately two weeks later for those who want to take it.

“Anyone at all interested should please come along – all they need on the night is a pen and pad and a 2016 BCGBA handbook.”
