Long Distance Travellers Up For The Cup

League officials were delighted when Prince of Wales Hotel from Shrewsbury joined the Dennis Lewis Thursday Division at the start of the 2015 season.

And they are equally chuffed to see Ludlow-based Burway competing in this year's  main team knockout for the Harris Cup.

Having to travel more than 30 miles to play in the six home-six away comp is simply not an issue for them.

Burway star Wayne Rogers contacted KO organiser Phil King asking if they could enter as they wanted more early games with their local Ludlow League starting later than usual.

Phil confirmed that the Harris Cup, played in aid of charity, is open to all Shropshire affiliated clubs and Burway came aboard.

They got off to a winning start, beating St Georges’ first division entry by 23 chalks after a 29 shot handicap advantage for the Dragons was taken into account, and on Wednesday 27 April are due to play division two leaders Highley in the first round proper . . . an away trip of just 20 miles!
