No Bowls Friday . . . But Monday There Is!

posted Sep 22, 2016, 12:25 PM by Malcolm Fletcher
Friday night action is now finished in the League - but there's plenty at stake on Monday 26 September . . . especially at the top of division four.

Leaders Allscott C entertain Worfield with a five point lead over Donnington Wood C, who entertain Broseley B, while Horsehay C - who have finished their fixtures and have 183 points to currently sit second - look set to miss out on the top two in the final reckoning.

Sir John Bayley C have won division five to complete a hat-trick of division titles for the club, finishing ahead of Hadley USC B, while leaders Albrighton C and Trench C - with League President Mike Potter at the helm -  are home and dry in division six.

With regards to the Friday top flights, congratulations go to champions Donnington Wood A - pending a  points deduction at the League's October executive meeting - and Harris Cup finalists Sir John Bayley A in division two and Bayley B in division three, with husband and wife Pat and Jan Minton the respective captains.

Pat had the misfortune to miss out on the divisional averages award by a mere three shots to Dave East of division two runners-up Highley A after they both won 24 out of 26 games.

The first division averages were won by Donnington's Mark Worthington (23/26) while Robert Smith of Chelmarsh A topped division three (20/23).

And if you are feeling had done by that there are no fixtures on Friday 23 September, with the weather being so good, rest assured that League officers are to consult with clubs about the start and finish dates of the 2017 season, especially with Easter falling so late (Good Friday is April 14!)
