This is a personal plea from League secretary Malcolm Fletcher to anyone who has fond memories on the now defunct Ercall Magna BC and its long-serving greenkeeper Tom Breeze:
Some of the top names in Shropshire bowls will compete in a special charity event on Sunday 21 August in a memory of one of the characters of the game.
The Tom Breeze Memorial will be played at Sinclair as an invitation 32 singles organised by his son, 2000 County Merit winner John.
And those lining up from 10am in pursuit of a £80 first prize include multi-titled county star Derek Wright, past County President Terry Sambrook, St Georges stalwart Jim Kellett, Ercall Magna legend Brian Thomas and host club hero Pete Spragg.
Tom Breeze played for Sinclair, Donnington Wood seniors and Ercall Magna, becoming the popular groundsman at the now defunct High Ercall club and also having a spell as president of Shropshire Parks.
Well known greenkeeper John Breeze - who is taking a break from playing after a fine career with the likes of Donnington Wood, St Georges, Chester Road and the county – says all proceeds from the day, including a raffle, will go to the MacMillan Nurses.
