Six Days Of Christmas (!) . . . An Historical Countdown

The FIRST champions of the league were the Royal Exchange of Dawley in 1933.

They were one of the eight original teams who agreed to form the 'Mid Shropshire Amateur Bowling League' at a meeting held in December 1932 at the Cock Hotel in Wellington.

The first officials of the then men-only league were: chairman S. J. S. Poole; secretary A. W. Bowdler; treasurer, W Cooper.

It would seem that only league fixtures were played in that inaugural season, with an Individual Merit launched in 1934 and bowlers from the League were soon making a big impression on the county scene . . .
