Spragg Secures Second Success

Peter Spragg triumphed in the League's second competition of the season - the Over-60 Merit.

The Sinclair 63-year-old took the title with a 21-19 victory over Graham Turner (Donnington Wood) in a cracking final at Trench on Saturday 20th May.

He quickly built a 12-5 lead but slipped behind for the first time at 16-15 and had to battle back from 18-15 down before receiving the Ray & Jeff Hutchinson Trophy from League chairman Sean Round.

A watching Dave Brown, the dethroned champion after his success in the first running of the competition last year, said of Spragg; "It couldn't have happened to a nicer fella."

There were 11 entries, up on 2016, and the League's thanks go to Trench for the use of their facilities, the superb green and the refreshments.

Now League officials will look at ways of encouraging lady bowlers to enter - starting next year.
