The successful launch of an after school bowls club in Telford will be welcomed at a meeting tonight (Tuesday 3 May) of the League's management committee.

The initial one hour session at Hadley Learning Community was attended by 11 primary phase children with league junior selector Rob Burroughs as club leader and County Development Officer Peter Carter also at the helm.

And Burroughs will report to delegates at Wellington’s Sir John Bayley Club (7.30pm) that the club, the result of nearly 12 months work on a Junior Development Policy, is poised to flourish.

Meanwhile, the league has confirmed life membership status on former president Jeff Hutchinson and current general secretary Malcolm Fletcher.

Hutchinson ended more than four decades of service to Mid Shropshire in January after serving for four years as League President.

He represented the league as County President in 2005, thus following in the footsteps of his father Ray in 1975-6.

And both are to be honoured on a new trophy that will be presented to the winner of the League's new Over-60s Merit - to be played on Saturdya 14 May at Trench with a 2pm start.
