They've done it again! Mid Shropshire's super team have won the Shropshire veterans in-league championship for the fourth time in five years.

Skipper and sole selector Tony Roche masterminded the triumph on Saturday 18 June - but it was a far from easy ride.
On a day of draws in all three of the three-strong round robin groups at Trench and Wrockwardine Wood 1 and 2, Mid Shropshire had to battle to get a draw against Ludlow to win their group on WW 2.

A 10 shot semi-final success over Market Drayton at Maddocks in the eight-a-side event was never comfortable and then they were involved in a thrilling final showdown against Wem.

League Over-60 Merit champion Dave Brown (21-12) was their only winner in the first four as they trailed by seven.

But Les Mumford's 21-10 and Tony Roche's 21-13 put the host team ahead and Jon Madeley added a 21-20 card to snatch a four shot (143-139) triumph.

County President Phil Scott made the congratulatory speech before presenting the Derek Wright Shield to Tony and his terrific team that also featured Peter Spragg, Pat Minton, John Lovett, Steve Parton and John Clarke.
