Here We Go - Game On!

THIS LETTER WAS EMAILED TO ALL MEMBER CLUBS WHO PLAY IN DIVISIONS 1 to 6 ON THURSDAY 13th SEPTEMBER AT 8.42pm:

Dear club secretary / delegate,

I write with what I hope you will greet as good news – there will be action in the MSBL in 2020 after all!

The League’s officers voted unanimously at a Zoom meeting tonight to go ahead with at least one competition next month, strictly obeying the phase 3 guidelines of the BCGBA’s green reopening scheme so it is done as safely as possible.

It will be held at Edgmond on Saturday 5th September (10.30am start) and entry will be open to any bowler who played in at least 12 games in divisions 1-2-3-4-5-6 last year (2019) and has paid his or her clubs subs this year. There will be 16 places available at £10 each with a £100 first prize with a full house, the entries being taken on a first come, first served basis.

An on-site meeting has taken place at Edgmond with their club officials – who are thanked most sincerely for all their efforts so far in this project - and a full risk assessment is being finalised. The choice of this venue is down to the fact that we can keep control of numbers at the club (ie no more than 30).

Full details of the comp will be issued direct to clubs next week and then the aim is to put them on the League’s website and Facebook group on Friday 21st August, with competition secretary Phil King to accept entries from a set time the following day (Saturday). Entries will only be confirmed once a bank transfer of the entry fee has been made.

And if there is sufficient demand, there will be further comps (again limited to 16 entries) on the two following Saturdays – 12th and 19th September.

Malcolm Fletcher (Gen Sec)
