Concerns about the rising number of Covid-19 cases may be increasing - see the latest post under the Coronavirus icon - but thoughts are already turning to bowls in more normal times, hopefully as soon as next year

A ‘Let’s Roll’ initiative is being planned to help get bowls clubs back to life when the health crisis finally eases.

Full details are still being worked on but the hope is that it will assist clubs all over Shropshire prepare for a 2021 season that is as near to normal as can be in the prevailing circumstances.

“There’s going to be something called a “Let’s Roll’ initiative next year to get clubs going again,” said county development officer and coaching chief Pauline Wilson.

“I’m going to get behind it and I’ve already primed my coaches for an early season initiative in 2021.”

News of the plan follows on from the sport’s governing body, the British Crown Green Bowling Association, rejoining the Bowls Development Alliance (BDA) as a partner.

The BDA was established in 2010 to work across all codes of bowling to develop the game, invest government funding effectively (via Sport England) and to inspire more people to participate in the sport.

"Anything that brings money into our clubs is good as far as I’m concerned,” added Bridgnorth bowler Pauline.
