Meetings Update – And Club Round-up

Tomorrow (Tuesday 7th July) should have seen an executive meeting of the League.

But that, along with tonight’s planned meeting of the county executive, has been cancelled due to the pandemic meaning there has been no League fixtures or any competitions to date this summer.

Clubs have been able to re-open their greens under strict guidelines – and now they have had the green light to starting organising internal clubs comps, it’s time for a round-up of how some in Mid Shropshire land are doing . . .

- Both greens are open and are being well used with nearly 300 bookings so far, and the booking in system is working well at ST GEORGES, where both greens are in use, and at SHIFNAL.

ALBRIGHTON are already running club comps over the whole remainder of season, giving deadlines for each round. This means players arrange between themselves when they play their game and book the green in accordance with COVID-19 restrictions.

BYLET aim to launch singles comps on both greens from Friday 10th July, and neighbours BRIDGNORTH are looking at starting their comps too.

WORFIELD report ‘not a big take up but nice to see green used by a regular small number of members’ while CHELMARSH’s green is open for four sessions a week between 12 and 4pm and MADELEY CRICKET CLUB’s green is open to members on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

MADDOCKS has seen very little use since re-opening but hope numbers will rise when the club itself re-opens on Thursday 9th July, and there has been limited use of re-opened greens at HORSEHAY, SINCLAIR and DONNINGTON WOOD.

HADLEY USC and ELEPHANT & CASTLE (Shawbury) are closed and so is the MUCH WENLOCK green to club members, although the owning Town Council have re-opened it for use by town residents.
