Not Long To Wait Now . . .

And the wait goes on . . . still nothing to report from the BCGBA regarding permission for hosting league and open competitions or organising friendly matches between clubs.

But rest assured that, following a meeting of the governing body via Zoom last week, there is good news in the pipeline – hopefully this coming week - with strict guidelines remaining in place regarding numbers on and around greens, plus the ability to track and trace all those present.

One member club that has successfully re-launched internal club competitions is Madeley Cricket Club BC, their first in-house event since C-19 lockdown being the senior citizens doubles KO. It was won by Sybil Rhodes and Graham Hollis and there were 16 entries, “which is just about right,” said club secretary Terry French.

And in-house comps is perhaps something that Elephant & Castle bowlers can look forward to now that the Shawbury-based club has announced it is re-opening its green on Saturday 1st August.

That leaves just Hadley USC and Much Wenlock with greens closed to their members - but the Wenlock green has been re-opened to residents as it is owned and managed by Much Wenlock Town Council.
