Manx Festival Dream Dies

Open competitions are still not yet allowed, but a good number of Mid Shropshire bowlers had aimed to shrug off the pandemic by competing in the Isle of Man Festival in September - until now..

Months of uncertainty over the five-day bonanza on the island, that had been due to start on Monday 7th September, ended when Festival Director Steve Moore confirmed it had been cancelled – just like the June Festival had to be.

"Following the announcement from the Isle of Man Government that it is unlikely the borders will open to visitors until at least the end of September 2020, it is with great regret that the September Bowls Festival is now cancelled," he said.

“We apologise for the lateness in this decision, but we have been trying and hoping that the event would go ahead.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding - and we hope to see you in 2021, when the June festival will celebrate its 100th anniversary. The 2021 dates are June 21-25 and September 6-10.”.
